Welcoming Dhul-Hijjah 1446
The Best Days of the Year!
Alhamdulillah, by the mercy of Allah, we are blessed to witness Dhul-Hijjah 1446. The final month of the Islamic year and home to the best days of the entire year. These are the days when the hearts of millions are turned towards Makkah, as pilgrims set out on the greatest journey, the Hajj, fulfilling one of the pillars of Islam. For those not on that journey, these days are still filled with immense opportunity.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days."
[Bukhari]
These blessed days are a chance for each of us to pause, reflect, and ask:
How can I draw nearer to Allah? How can I fill my days with deeds that He loves? Whether it is through fasting, prayer, charity, dhikr, Qur'an, kindness, or seeking forgiveness, every small act carries immense weight with Allah these days. The goal is not perfection, but consistency in goodness and a sincere intention to please our Creator.
Dhul-Hijjah carries the most important day of the year and that is the day of ʿArafah (9th of Dhul-Ḥijjah) which is the greatest day of Hajj. A day on which sins are forgiven, souls are released from the Hellfire, and duʿas are readily accepted.
Wipe your sins away by fasting on the Day of ʿArafah. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the fast of the Day of ʿArafah, he said: “It wipes away the (sins) of the past year and upcoming year” [Muslim]
We are encouraged to make du’a to Allah abundantly and to recite this du’a on the Day of 'Arafah. A time to engage in supplication and seek Allah's blessings and forgiveness.
Don’t let these blessed days pass you. Make the most of it and engage in righteous actions to get closer to Allah. Allah reminds us in the Qur’an:
“…Whatever good you send forth for yourselves, you will find it with Allah far better and more rewarding. And seek Allah’s forgiveness. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
[Surah Al-Muzzammil: 20]
