Sabeel Study Retreat Exceeds Expectations
Thursday, 03 April 2008

The first Sabeel Study Retreat took place during the Easter weekend organised by iProgress, the development wing of MRDF. By the grace of Allah the retreat exceeded the expectations of the organisers themselves. Around 50 participants attended from different locations in the UK. It continued for three nights and two and a half days. The enthusiasm of the participants was such that the days’ schedules started on time at 5:00 am, before departing for rest at 11:00pm on every day, with not much rest in between! Allah bestowed His mercy and instilled an atmosphere of brotherhood and iman that was appreciated by all.

Everyone involved performed very well and showed a high level of professionalism, maturity, manners, pro-activity, creativity and excellence. The participants appreciated the level of teaching delivered by the students of knowledge, who were said to come across as ‘very dynamic’ and ‘charismatic’ . Many also saw the programmes as a ‘new style’ of tarbiyyah (Islamic development) delivered in this package; that knowledge, fun, team building, spiritual development and other aspects were incorporated in one programme.May Allah give all the participants and organisers success and increase their reward immensely.

Some of the comments made by those who attended:

  • Knowledge - Amazing!
  • It was an excellent 'Package'. It included many different aspects of tarbiyyah in a good balanced way masha Allah (Ilm, brotherhood, practical skills, entertainment, netwroking, good facilities and nice location)
  • I gained an insight into Islam I didn't have before...
  • Jazakallahu khairan for this event - it is the best I have ever been to and I loved the experience
  • This is the first lecture/course that I have been to where I actually felt like I started with small baby steps on the path of knowledge...may Allah reward you all - Ameen
  • The activities such as teambuilding and exercises were very modern and important especially for the Muslims of the West.
  • Overall great course!
  • Excellent range of speakers - and I loved the fact the speakers ate and mixed with us...
  • More courses!
  • The topics, scholars’ zeal and level of knowledge were excellent!
  • Excellent atmosphere...
  • May Allah reward the organisers and teachers! I have been looking for something like this for many years. Please continue doing these retreats on a continuous basis
