On Tuesday 19 February 2008, Shaikh Jaafar delivered a lecture at the Islamic Dawah Centre in East Ham, London that looked at the place of reason in Islam. Therein were discussed the controversial issues surrounding perceived contradictions between ‘reason’ and ‘revelation’, including the viewpoint of the righteous predecessors (al-salaf al-salih). The lecture utilised rational arguments from the Qur’an itself. The lecture was attended by many and was recorded for later distribution through DVD.
The tour also includes a series of programmes for Islam Channel (Sky Digital 813) for subsequent transmission. These programmes dealt with various contemporary issues and highlighted the need for reviving the original message of Islam for adoption in our times.
Other stops in the tour included the Annual Dinner for the Uinversity of Essex’s Islamic Society.
