The Retreats
The pioneering of retreats was instigated in 2002 with a casual gathering of scholars and students of knowledge analysing and researching various disciplines of the Islamic sciences and secular studies in parallel. Experts in various fields of knowledge enter deep research and analysis into a wide range of subjects and illustrate their findings through reports and presentations. In 2008 MRDF hosted its first Sabeel Study Retreat with over 50 participants held over 3 days. The retreats are growing from strength to strength. iPDP
The Personal Development Programme is fundamental to the academic and Islamic development of the Muslim community in the UK. The iPDP is a structured self development program that involves time-lined reading courses with scheduled mentoring appointments and incorporates the buddy system forming a comprehensive, curriculum based learning program. Currently the programme is in its ALPHA stage and should be ready for BETA stage exposure by January 2009.
Maqra’ah
As part of MRDF’s ongoing involvement in the development of Muslims of all levels, a Maqra’ah (Intensive Reading) program has been initiated. In association with iProgress, the text of classical Islamic literature is read in Arabic within a fixed period of time. These events are open to all serious students of knowledge and all attendees participate in the reading under the guidance of an Islamic Scholar. One of the aims of this programme is to facilitate the revision of sacred knowledge that has been preserved for over 1400 years. The Maqra’ah (reading) of al-Lu’lu’ wa’l-Marjan received a good response and more events of this type will be planned. Read a personal account here .
MRDF Arabic Programme
The Arabic Abroad venture has produced many of the UK’s finest Arabic teachers and promoters. Teaming up with the renowned Fajr Centre in Egypt, MRDF boasts an exclusive UK partnership with the centre which offers favourable discounts and services to all students wishing to learn Arabic in Egypt. The Fajr centre is recognised and registered with the Egyptian Ministry of Education and offers diplomas in the Arabic language which can be accredited to under graduate study programmes in the UK.
